Moisturizers That Not Only Hydrate the Skin, But Heal

September 22nd marked the beginning of Fall for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere. Along with Fall comes the lower temperatures, dryer air, and issues related to our skin becoming increasingly vulnerable to damage and stress without the proper protection.

While the obvious solution and respite from dry, cracked skin is the use of a moisturizer, it is critical to the continued health and appearance of the skin that we know exactly which types of moisturizing products will do more harm than good, and which moisturizing products actively work to heal and strengthen our skin.

What is in a Name?

Browsing the BensiSkin line of moisturizers, you will notice that our products have names like Optimize, Boost, and Lock. It’s easy to think of moisturizers as holding a solitary role in adding hydration to otherwise dry skin, but this step proves to be superficial when not accompanied by methods to optimize, boost, and lock in moisture. For this reason, BensiSkin products are named to signify the fundamental changes they make in the skin.

Here is a quick summary of the three moisturizers listed above and how their names reflect the therapeutic properties offered through their formulations.

Optimize

Optimize can best be thought of as a crossover product, combining the regenerative and protective properties of an anti-aging regimen with the barrier support of a truly effective moisturizer. This product not only increases natural hydration and reduces water loss (thanks, in part, to the addition of hyaluronic acid), but it also helps firm the skin while reducing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and other side effects of premature aging. Additionally, this antioxidant cream contains the plant-based growth factor kinetin to further protect against oxidative stress.

Boost

As its name suggests, our Boost moisturizer increases hydration by invigorating the skin and improving its natural functions. A combination of fatty acid, cholesterol, ceramide, and bisabolol helps soothe, reduce irritation and inflammation, and soften the outermost layer of the skin. But where this product really shines is with its addition of squalane, a plant-based ingredient that acts as a biological component to our natural oil production and thereby leaves the skin moisturized without any greasy or heavy residues.

Lock

Just like the other two products mentioned, Lock works to strengthen the skin’s natural moisture barrier. Where Lock stands apart from the others is how it achieves this feat through its primary ingredient: a high dose of hyaluronic acid (and peptides for support.)

Hyaluronic acid is used regularly in facial fillers as it binds up to 1,000 times its molecular weight in water. The result of which is a drastic reduction of water loss through the skin and, as an added benefit, a noticeable increase in the skin’s plumpness and overall healthy allure.

The Strength of Fragrance- and Paraben-Free Formulas

Another important distinction with moisturizers (as well as all skincare products) is that the BensiSkin line is 100% free of fragrances and parabens. Many such additives in skincare products, while they smell nice and offer a cosmetic appeal, actually harm the skin by irritating conditions such as chronic dryness, acne, and skin that may be compromised due to chemical peels, environmental damage, or procedures.

Fall 15 Discount for These Three Moisturizing Products

From now until November 30th, BensiSkin is offering customers 15% off every purchase of Optimize, Boost, and Lock. As your skin continues to be exposed to the cooler temperatures and dryer climates in the weeks ahead, its important that we incentivize the use of moisturizers that will support healthy skin function in our customers.
