While refining a modernized formulation for chemical peeling, board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Richard Bensimon and partner, Certified Plastic Surgical Nurse, Andrea Bensimon RN, noticed a problem with the post-peel recovery. BensiPeel™, a croton oil based “deep chemical peel” used to treat severely wrinkled and sun damaged skin, was creating profound improvement in their patients, but managing the post-procedure healing was challenging with the choice of skin care products available to us at the time.

Like other traditional plastic surgical offices, we would perform resurfacing procedures and then recommend well-known skin care products to manage the post procedure recovery. We were surprised when we witnessed a high degree of reaction with the products that were formulated with low quality ingredients (junk) and labeled “clinical skin care” This is when we really learned about the need for a super clean clinical skin care line for our patients.

Compromised skin became the default testing ground. Newly resurfaced skin is sensitive and will react to fragrances and parabens, lanolin, and other inactive ingredients often found in skincare products. Facial skin, especially after being recently resurfaced, needs extra clean and “non-reactive” ingredients that help the skin to heal and promote cellular renewal. It then became obvious to us, “why reserve high quality skin care just for our peel patients?”

From this extensive clinical experience, BensiSkin™ was formulated. Working directly with one of the foremost experts in the formulation of medical skincare, we have carefully curated products and skincare regimens designed to yield results without damage. After many years of performing deep chemical peeling techniques, we have seen the importance of good skin health before, during, and after each procedure, and how it not only affects the overall outcome, but directly contributes to it. We have told our patients for years, that skin care is core to self-care. Avoidance of sun exposure on the face, neck and chest along with a consistent regimen of high-quality skincare products, will have the greatest impact on healthy skin aging over a lifetime.
